Family Newsletter

Dear Families,
Thank you to those who were able to make it in for our Open House celebration this week.  The students were so proud sharing their animal habitats, research reports and google slideshows.  For those who missed this opportunity, please do not worry about not making it.  As discussed earlier, we understand that it is difficult to leave in the middle of a work day.  Your child's google slideshow will be shared digitally soon and the animal writing piece will be part of our Reading Restaurant on May 17th.

Friday was Ms Jess's last day in our classroom.  We had a celebration with her and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.  She is graduating from St. Michael's College and she will return to her home state of New Jersey to work as a teacher.  We will miss her greatly.

I hope all the students will continue with reading over vacation.  We are participating in a reading challenge with Mrs. Benoit's and Ms. Gravelin's classes.  Our new vacation reading log has a flower on it, with numbered petals. Instead of writing down the book titles on our traditional reading log, the children are writing down their book titles inside the petals (they can also color them).  We are going to see how many books we can read together as a class over vacation!  Have fun reading!

First grade mathematicians also took home a tangram math packet.  This is voluntary but I wanted to share some math games for home. Happy Math!

I hope everyone will have a safe and relaxing vacation.  Hopefully we will get some Spring-like weather here in Vermont!!!

Maria
